U2 and the start of it all.

October 24, 2009

This is my first Blog Post.  I must say, I have been hesitant.  I hope this can be a forum for great discussion and growth, if only just for me.  I also plan on being more active in the blogging scene…so look for me out there.  I also hope to update and improve my site soon, so look back for that too.

I was recently at the U2 concert in Chicago…Awesome gift from my girlfriend!  As I was sitting there, taking it all in, I heard the intro to one of my favorite U2 songs of all time, “I still haven’t found what I am looking for”. I was instantly transported to that place in my head that I go to when I hear a song from the Joshua Tree soundtrack.  If you are a U2 fan then you understand what I mean.

As I was sitting taking the lyrics in and loving the atmosphere, Gina, my girlfriend, turned and asked me, “what if I have already found what I am looking for?”

This started for me a realization about the state that some of us live in.

The song’s lyrics are so strong in saying that there is a searching in the human heart for something or someone that can not be satisfied with any thing earthly.  So many of us like U2 resonate with this song.  We realize that on our own we can not be full or satisfied. As many know U2 have been singing that song for 22 years, my entire lifetime.  The truth is so have I and so have a great deal of people. We have been singing this song with our lives.

But it strikes me as not enough,  It is great that we in our lives come to a realization that we need God and that we can not erase our sins on our own.  The sad thing is that for some reason we get stuck there. We do not take the next step to find the answer of what we are looking for, and if and when we do we don’t have any idea of how to answer Gina’s question.  So, what if you have found what you are looking for?  It’s obvious isn’t it?

Don’t let it go and show others the way!

I wonder why we get stuck in the search, looking for something we already have?

I know I am searching when I don’t trust God but when I choose to trust him, to hold on to him,  I have nothing to look for and no questions to ask.
